permission for the map of polluted Czechia
Dear Pierantonio,
I'd like to use a part of your Europe pollution map with Czechia in centre
for an educational leaflet for Czech public (and, next week, for the
members of parliament so that they would include prevention of light
pollution into the ``clean air act'').
It should be printed B&W in some thousands copies, to be distributed free
of charge to municipalities etc. It should be also available on our page
on web, for people to be able to print it themselves.
The working version of the leaflet is
http://amper.ped.muni.cz/light/zakon_oo/letak/letak.pdf
-- the source of the map is given on the last side of the leaflet, as it
would not fit to the title page. The wording is a bit different from the
one given on your page, Blackwell Science is not contained, I may try to
include it somehow (place is scarce) if needed.
To show what the leaflet is about, I made quickly an English version
(bad English, just a straigth translation of the Czech wording) as well,
http://amper.ped.muni.cz/light/zakon_oo/letak/leaflet.pdf
I made the gray version of the map in order to get a correct B&W print. It
took me some time, the following script in my Debian linux machine did the
job (after cutting the needed part of the map) finally:
convert -colors 7 ceur.png ceur7.png
convert -pen gray0 -opaque "#7bff7b" ceur7.png ceur_2.png
convert -pen gray0 -opaque "#fdfffa" ceur_2.png ceur_1.png
convert -pen gray10 -opaque blue ceur_1.png ceur_2.png
convert -pen gray30 -opaque green ceur_2.png ceur_1.png
convert -pen gray50 -opaque yellow ceur_1.png ceur_2.png
convert -pen gray70 -opaque "#ff8400" ceur_2.png ceur_1.png
convert -pen gray90 -opaque red ceur_1.png ceur_gr.png
Perhaps another people might need gray maps sometimes, to print them by
ordinary laser printers, so the same script might help them, if you would
not make such gray maps yourself.
If possible, I'd like to use a colour version of the map of Czechia as
well on our Czech www pages.
But the main thing I need now is your kind permission to use the gray one.
with best regards,
Jenik
PS. the directory
http://amper.ped.muni.cz/light/zakon_oo/
contains a Czech translation of the Lombardy law, lombard_czr.*, as well
