Hi Herwig,
 I read somewhere that you can make the straw almost fireproof( if thats
possible) by soaking it in a runny solution
of lime plaster almost the consistency of a clay slip and then press it into
moulds made from plywood and 2in x 4in timber and make your own straw panels
which you can then use in the roofspace as insulation.
