Hello
A future issue of The Last Straw journal will feature the use of straw bale
and other natural building materials and methods for buildings that offer
people an opportunity to spend time in structures sustainably designed and
that are constructed from strawbale, cob, bamboo, light straw/clay, adobe,
rammed earth, earthen plasters, earthen floors, and others as part of the
ecotourism movement around the world. The buildings could also include
features such as rainwater catchment, greywater, or other water conservation
systems; composting toilets and other waste management systems; passive and
active solar or other alternative energy systems; salvaged and indigenous
materials...
It is important that the buildings are open to the public and relate to
ecotourism, e.g., nature centers, retreats, vacations spots, bed &
breakfasts, motels and other tourist housing, etc.
This issue will not be published in 2009, so there's plenty of time to send
in your suggestions, text and photos, contact information or anything else
that will help us assemble the content for this issue. We'll use these
buildings in an update of the Open to the Public list that TLS started years
ago - and which we will share after the Ecotourism issue is published.
If you have questions or need additional information, please feel free to
contact me.
Thanks for any help you can give to preparing or contributing content to
this issue.
The Last Straw is the international journal of strawbale and natural
