[Strawbale] Concrete Base - foundations question??

Hi,

 

I am planning on building a straw bale stable block which requires a
large concrete base.

 

Does anyone have experience of creating suitable foundations for straw
bale walls when incorporating a large concrete base.  The problem I see
is trying to make the foundation suitably breathable for the bales while
making the foundation sit within the surrounding base?

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
