Hello Rikki,
I found, that diluted borax runs of the oily wool whereas in ity dry
form it sticks to it nicely.
Mark mentoined, that lanolin is being extracted fom the wool to make it
more fireproof.
Yet oily wool makes it much more difficult for oxygen to pass through,
surly if its compressed a fair bit. It will burn, once the rest of house
is burning ( and the lanolin will burn exellent once the heat makes it
liquid) but it is almost impossible to start a fire with this wool.
I tried and found, that it is easier to get a well compressed three
string bale to burn.
