Hello everybody!
I would like to introduce my collegue Markus
Piringer and myself - my name is Tania Berger - to this list. We are
both working for the Austrian NGO "Global 2000" which is mainly dealing with
enviromental matters.
(We havenŽt participated in the discussion so far
although I even attended the European Strawbale Gathering in Redfield. Markus is
currently in Mongolia, strawbalebuilding with Raleigh International and I am out
of the office too as I have to babysit my recently born
daughter.)
Global 2000 is trying to promote the use of
renewable row materials and therefor we also do research projects in this
aera. Last year we investigated "hindering and promoting factors for strawbale
building in Austria". Doing so we came to the conclusion that only by becoming a
mainstream building material, straw can offer a positiv impact on general energy
consumption. Regarding Austrian building traditions and regulations,
post-and-beam construction is the way to get there (We are quiet aware this
might not be the case in other regions).
When weŽll be able to start working again, weŽd
like to intensify networking and promoting the idea of straw
bale construction within the Austrian building industry.
Greetings,
Tania
