One of my favorite verses is Genesis 1:16:

God made two great lights-the greater light to govern the day and the
lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

With emphasis on "the lesser light to govern the night".  When you are
cluttering the night with all the obnoxious over lighting, you are not
letting the lesser light govern the night (assumed to be the Moon).
Period.  Everyone I've ran this by who has really studied the Bible had no
argument of my interpetation.
