Subject: Lighting and robbery in London
This is a paper I overlooked previously:
Barker, M., Geraghty, J., Webb, B. and Key, T. (1993) The prevention of street robbery. Crime Prevention Unit Series, Paper No 44. London, UK: Home Office Police Department, Police Research Group.
http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/rds/prgpdfs/fcpu44.pdf
This paper includes the finding that street lighting was not considered by the majority of the street robbers studied in their choice of offence venue in London. This was corroborated when 26 of the 33 victims claimed that the offences against them took place in full daylight or bright street light.
