Example LEGO Engineer Curriculum

Systems Engineering Projects:
Kindergarten Town | Fourth Grade Recycling Center | First Grade Haunted House

Short Projects:
Fifth Grade Crane that picks up water | Sixth and Seventh Grade Cars

Kindergarten Town
This classroom built an entire town out of LEGO and other materials. This Builder program makes the motorized bus stop at the houses along the street.

Recycling Center
Fourth graders in Terry Green's science class in Lincoln, MA were learning about recycling. While making a recycling center with motorized LEGO, they decided to make a computerized conveyor belt. When the light sensor saw a yellow lego brick, it kicked it off of the conveyor belt into a bin. Blue bricks were allowed to continue down the conveyor belt into another bin.

Haunted House
This classroom built an entire haunted house with LEGO. The programmed various things to happen such as the dog wagging its tail.

Crane that picks up water
Kevin (5th grade) was given the task of making a crane that could lower a dixie cup down into a bucket of water and draw up some water. He also made a car nearby that could run over the bad guys. This is the program he wrote to run them over. He had control over the car via the touch sensor.

Cars
Here are two cars and the programs for them. Cale's car (7th grade) has rack and pinion steering and Joe's (6th grade) has a fanblade on the back of it.
