Subject: Greg Mort's Support of IDA

To the Astronomical League Executive Council
To all IDA Sections and Affiliates,

We would like to thank you for your support and to tell you about an exciting
opportunity to help eliminate the problem of light pollution and preserve our
nighttime environment.

Greg Mort donated several of his limited edition lithographs of a painting
named "Stream of Stars" to IDA. Greg Mort is one of America's preeminent
Earth/Space artists. His watercolor, oil, and pastel paintings are included
in some of the most notable collections around the world such as the
Smithsonian Institution. Carl Sagan once selected one of Greg's paintings as
an illustration in the book, "Pale Blue Dot."

Greg's world-renowned artwork, "Stream of Stars," captures the infinite
beauty of our night skies as they meet the natural wonders of seashells on
our home planet.

An auction for these prints will run on e-Bay from March 15 (after 5 pm USA
EST) to March 25. Once posted by e-Bay, the artwork can be viewed and bids
placed by visiting www.ebay.com, then use the "What are you looking for" box
to search for "Greg Mort." The funds raised by this auction will help IDA
preserve and protect our nighttime environment.

Please let your members know about this auction, and disseminate this notice
to your memberships and listservers.

We would like to thank you for the time you have invested in recognizing the
cause of International Dark-Sky Association. We appreciate your support.
