[Strawbale] closing the gap between plaster and framing

We used flax as window-insulation even 10 years ago.
The material is a drilled flax-plait/rope, sometimes it is dipped in
linnen-oil, and sometimes its covered with clay or earthen plaster.
But it works without linnen-oil or clay too.
If the drilling is stronger, it is wider, if its less drilled, the rope is
thinner. Easy to work with.

Its called Fugendämmstreifen (you find it under ("Produkte")

Fugendämmstreifen aus Flachs werden für den ökologisch konsequenten Einbau

Anwendungsbereiche:

Die einfache Handhabung der vorgefertigten Streifen beim Verfüllen von Fugen
zwischen Blendrahmen bzw. Zarge und Mauerwerk ermöglicht eine bis zu 80
%-ige Zeitersparnis gegenüber herkömmlichen losen Stopfmaterial. Eine
Normgerechte Wind- und Schlagregenabdichtung von Fensterfugen wird unbedingt
empfohlen.
