hi there

I found something about lime (german:kalk):

Lime (CaO) is manufactured from limestone (CaCO3 ) and dolomite (CaCO3MgCO3) by heating in a lime kiln resulting in the evolution of carbon dioxide

Karbonisierung
wird das Erhärten von Kalken (teilweise auch von Zementen) durch Aufnahme von Kohlensäure der Luft im Gegensatz zum hydraulischen Erhärten genannt.

the lime CaO reacts with carbonic acid (H2CO3) which evolves out of the natural reaction between CO2 (Carbon dioxid) en H2O (water). which takes place inside the newly plasterd wall.

this process is called carbonisation and hardens the plaster
