Hi everyone

Gillian is not on the list, so if anyone has any advice for her,
please reply directly to glpevieAyahoo.co.uk.

Gillian - there are two strawbale email discussion lists that may be
of interest to you - the Europe-wide one is at
http://amper.ped.muni.cz/mailman/listinfo/strawbale where you can
subscribe. There is also a strawbale discussion list for Spain
(generally in English and Spanish) at

Good luck!

My name is Gillian and I have been married to Les for 25 years. At
the moment we live in England. When redundancy was proposed at my
place of work we began to think what we wanted to do with the rest of
our lives.

We have decided that we are going to move to Spain's Andalusia region.
We have initially bought a mobile home in an olive grove in the plain
of Antequera. However, our dream would be to buy some land (not too
much) and build a strawbale house, use renewable energy, composting
toilets, grow vegetables hydroponically and have some animals, to
become as self sufficient as possible. If possible, it would be
exciting to use the place as an educational centre for other people
interested in the same ideals so that they could learn building
methods etc.

However, on our last visit to Spain (in September) we were told by an
Ex-pat, that the Spanish wouldn't be interested in giving us
permission to build such an innovative structure so we may as well
forget it. We feel despondent now.

The people at Strawbalefutures suggested I contact you, asking if
anyone knows anything to the contrary. They understand that there is
interest in this area. Therefore, could anyone help me on finding
information about strawbale building in Spain or point me in the right

Could you please respond to glpevieAyahoo.co.uk

Many many thanks

Gillian Pevie
